East Wind

WHO HAS SEEN THE WIND?
by Christina Rossetti
Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you:
But when the leaves are trembling,
The wind is passing through.

Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I:
But when the trees bow down their heads,
The wind is passing by.

I memorized this poem in 4th grade, turns out my Sweetheart did also. Today it is very appropiate as the EAST WIND is blowing.

This is to the North

We have seen some dangerous East Winds over the years. The first one I experienced was our first Winter in Utah and Smoot's Dairy Farm in Centerville had downed power lines that caused a fire and destroyed not own farm buildings but quite a few Jersey cows.
Other times semis have been over turned and huge bill-boards have been twisted. Some people have lost shingles and siding on their homes. One home we lived in faced East and all the heat was blown out of the living room into the kitchen that faced West. I don't remember the children ever missing a day of school because of the East wind.

Nowadays the forecasters can tell us when the winds will blow and what causes them.

I took these pictures this morning. These are NOT clouds on the mountaintops, it is the snow being blown off the mountaintops. A very pretty sight. The mountains in Salt Lake were spectacular.

This is to the South

At least all the fog has gone. It is 11 degrees. Wrap up.

Comforts of Home

Oh the weather outside is frightful (4ins snow)
and the fire is so delightful
and since there's no place to go
LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW.

and a nice bowl of homemade soup.

Goodmorning Utah!!!!

This is actually the rising sun in St. George, Utah.
We went to Southern Utah for 4 days with a day in the middle to visit Las Vegas for Hannah's blessing.
We visited one of our favorite places.

Zion National Park.
We had to wait 20 minutes in line to enter the Park and since the parking lot was full we were not able to get the shuttle so just drove through the tunnel to the "checkerboard mesa". We met a nice couple from Ohio. I confess, I was disappointed that the fall colors were not rampant. Maybe we need to go next weekend. :o)

Then on Sunday morning we went to meet Hannah.
What a beautiful girl, she is a keeper.

This is our baby, with his baby, and her baby, and Grandpa. Four generations.!!

Hannah enjoyed G'pa singing "My Sweet Lady"

A great time!! but there is no place like home.
But then "Home is where the Heart is"
