Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you:
But when the leaves are trembling,
The wind is passing through.
Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I:
But when the trees bow down their heads,
The wind is passing by.
I memorized this poem in 4th grade, turns out my Sweetheart did also. Today it is very appropiate as the EAST WIND is blowing.
This is to the North
We have seen some dangerous East Winds over the years. The first one I experienced was our first Winter in Utah and Smoot's Dairy Farm in Centerville had downed power lines that caused a fire and destroyed not own farm buildings but quite a few Jersey cows.
Other times semis have been over turned and huge bill-boards have been twisted. Some people have lost shingles and siding on their homes. One home we lived in faced East and all the heat was blown out of the living room into the kitchen that faced West. I don't remember the children ever missing a day of school because of the East wind.
Nowadays the forecasters can tell us when the winds will blow and what causes them.
I took these pictures this morning. These are NOT clouds on the mountaintops, it is the snow being blown off the mountaintops. A very pretty sight. The mountains in Salt Lake were spectacular.
This is to the South
At least all the fog has gone. It is 11 degrees. Wrap up.

When we lived in our old house here in Kaysville the wind blew so hard that we saw our neighbors TRAMPOLINE rolling down the street. We experienced some scary nights listening to the house being beat up by the wind and my little boys being very afraid.
In this house, we still get the winds, but the insulation we paid extra money for when building, has proved worth it! We still hear it a bit, but we definitely sleep at night only to wake up the next morning to our neighbors complaining of the noise of the wind all night. :-)
I hardly knew it was windy today until I went out to lunch. COLD!!!
My first east wind memory was at 131 North when dad drove onto the lawn and we all hurried into the house because of the terrible wind. We all went to the basement until the wind died down and then discovered that a huge tree fell onto the driveway... it was a good thing that the car was on the lawn... oh, and btw there was a bird in that tree...
I'm glad you're back to blogging!
