A year ago Christmas Alan gave me a new set of scriptures. I HAD A SET! How do I use the new set? I decided I would start with "In the beginning....." and go through all 5 books of scripture. It has taken me longer than I anticipated but TODAY I finished The Psalms. Sometimes it was hard going because of repitition. but I FINISHED Psalms. What a glorious Book. It is all about praising the Lord. We are all probably familiar with the 23rd Psalm, and other verses throughout, but I particularly liked Psalm 90 and 91, and 116. I enjoyed reading (although it was hard going) because as I read I would say to myself, "That's how I feel". The last verse in #150 summed up the whole book, and can be condensed in Hymn # 72.
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
Oh my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!
Join the great throng, psaltery, organ, and song,
Sounding in glad adoration!
Praise to the Lord! Over all things He gloriously reigneth.
Borne as on eagle wings, safely His Saints He sustaineth.
Hast thou not seen, how all thou needest had been
Granted in what He ordaineth.
Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy way and defend thee.
Surely His goodness and mercy shall ever attend thee.
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
Who with His love doth befriend thee.
Praise to the Lord! oh let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath breath, join with Abraham's seed to adore Him!
Let the "amen" Sum all our praises again,
Now as we worship before Him.
I/We need to remember that He has taken care of me/us every day of our lives!
He is not going to quit now!
I/WE just need to be faithful!

What a beautiful post, and so timely with General Conference approaching.
I received a new set of scriptures this past Christmas and I am loving them. I was worried about making the transition to the new set and setting aside my "old" scriptures.
Thanks for sharing this message!!
Oh Trixie! I loved this post. Thanks for reminding us how important it is to always read our scriptures AND have a positive attitude about life. We truly are blessed! I love you:)
Thanks, dear friend!! I too have recently had renewed feelings of gratitude to our loving God and all His blessings to me/us. What a timely post and so tender and sweet -- that's just like you, my dear friend. God bless you!!
Amen.
Beautiful post, Mom. I hope you have a lovely conference weekend.
My concert last fall began with the hymn, "Praise To The Lord". It was a very spiritual moment for me, I had to sing through tears.
