When I was a child it was wartime. We didn't havea lot of clothes. Everything was rationed and clothing was one of these things. We were allowed so many clothing coupons per year.
As an adult our clothes needed to be replaced regularly, not just because of style but because clothing wore out.
Not so these days, seems like we have our things forever. Case in point. Recently when we were visiting family in California my Grandson (who
will remain unnamed) made some comment about the shirt I was wearing.

You have all seen it, red with white stripes (or is it white with red stripes?) either way he indicated that I was wearing it again/still.
Apparently there are pictures taken of me holding him the day he was born wearing "THE" shirt and now he is 16.
So to perpetuate the fun I told him I would not
wear it anymore because I would save it for the day we took him to the MTC. Actually the "oldest" picture I can find of me in the shirt is 1989 at the Rockfeller Center in New York.

I wore it at a family picnic to celebrate our 50th
in 2006. That is a long time. I went through my pictures and here are some of my findings.

That "un-named" grandson of your is a brat! I would have never noticed.
If the "shirt" fits...wear it...especially if you like it. What fun pictures!! I love red and white...and stripes!! So there you have it!
hehehe I know who that grandson is.
I think he pointed it out because it is also the shirt you were wearing in MY baby picture.
But hey, it's like a wardrobe staple now! I hope you wear it the day my first baby is born! (DON'T PANIC...that day will not come for MANY years.)
:]
Perhaps that is what I will do. I will wear it from now on when the babies are born....... beware everyone!!!!!!!
I have a picture of you wearing a red and white striped shirt holding my baby in 1987. Is it the same one?
I wonder who that "unnamed" grandson is. I don't know any bratty grandson from California:-)
I like your stripes Mom. All the family event it's been through. Good times. It should be preserved as a family heirloom :-)
I know who the bratty grandson is, and this time I can say he's not my son!! Although, mine do contribute to the bratty-ness. One in particulart that Granma vowed to never call a brat again, but now he does things just to get her to call him a brat. So, at the moment, I would say he is "Elder Brat." Either way, I know the shirt and I know it well. For a moment I didn't recognize it in London, but then noticed it was under the Leger's shirt!!
GREAT shirt!!!!! Hang in there!!
Love, Donna
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. Some of the older things in the closet do occasionally, mysteriously, go missing though :-)
I love the shirt! I can't stop laughing. I'm sure we can all find pictures of ourselves in the same outfits. Don't ever get rid of it!!! For those of you who won't recognize my blog name Grammie it's me Val Leary. I thought I would only be writing on my kid's blogs but Bea's family is my family! I'm still laughing! Bea you made my day!
I was at my moms house today and she told me I had to read your blog when I got home. I am glad I did. Very funny post!!! The comments from your family added to the humor. What a great family you have, well done!!!!
Good for you. "Use it up, wear it out. Make it do or do without."
