On my way to Dick's the other day I noticed Rogers Memorial Theatre (RMT) it was named after Ralph Rogers who founded it, originally it was Pages Lane theatre,(before that the location was used for a laundromat and a Green Stamp redemption center) and thought,"A blog"

It is the end of an era. We have spent many happy hours in this theater watching David do what he does best. Number one, he met Christine here. And we are glad he did, Christine is a great addition to our family.

I have lost count of the performances he has done but none have ever disappointed. Usually we have gone on dress rehearsal nights with a lot of extended family, and additional friends.

He never shows he is aware of us being there, but on one occasion Auntie Bea was visiting and we took her to whatever he was doing and one of his movements required him to indicate "two" which he did in the British fashion. Auntie Bea was delighted.

Chelsea and Derek and Caitlin have also participated here. So that will always be a "bee" in their bonnets

Centerpoint Legacy Theatre......
is located in Centerville, not too far from RMT. It is great and as you approach it at night it really is "A Theater" all lit up with big windows and people moving towards it. Anticipation....

The opening play was "Hairspray" and guess what part David played?.....
.......Wonder no more.....



He was great!!!!!!!!

So although there is nothing more constant than change, and there are some mixed feelings of leaving RMT we look forward to many entertaining nights ahead.....

What's So Special about June 25th....

....it's half past Christmas.

on June 25th 1971.
It is also the day our youngest, David was born!!!!
So to us of course June 25th is always special.
He named himself as the "golden child" when he was in his 20's. But at the age of 14 he became an "only" child when the last of his siblings got married. When someone in school expressed envy at his "aloneness" David explained it took him 14 years to get there.
As a teenager he was quite laid back, never wanting anything bad enough to have to work for it. But generally got it anyway. Because his Mom thought he should have it.
We lost him one time when he was 5 years old and after scouring the neighborhood and enlisting much help we found him asleep under the bed. His sister tells of the time he wanted to be carried when they were on a walk and she refused because he was to big to be carried. He sat down on the ground and she walked off and left him. He just sat there until she gave in and had to walk quite aways back to get him.
In High school he got involved in the theater and has provided much enjoyment for lots of people in his performances at Rogers Memorial Theater. And never ending joy and laughter for his family as he creates special songs every Christmas of a family nature. He has no competition as "Joseph....." and he can show whoever how to sing "Music of the Night", much to the delight of Margie.
We always have fun when David is around. He is a good man. He loves his wife, he loves his kids, he loves his siblings, he loves his Mom and Dad and he loves the Lord, and we love him. So much talent, so many stories, not enough time.

LES MISERABLES

Well I finally saw "Les Miz". The cutest "beggar girl" was a little more dishevelled than what is protrayed here, but she did a fantastic job. The voices were great, the scenery was very good, the death scenes were realistic and when the people were told to leave the barricades we checked to make sure our favorite "beggar girl" had gone to safety. She had. Please note the blue apron. It was a proven way to make sure we were watching the right person. Just a hint for those who are planning to attend the program.

What a great job the Musical Theater dept. does at Bountiful High School. It was here that I saw my first production of "Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Coat" and rose to my feet with all in attendance when "Pharoah" appeared. I was so proud of "Our Andy" and wanted to tell everyone "He belongs to us" :o)

Good job Caitlin, you are a natural :o)

The Pirate King...aka David

This is David's favorite role. At least it is now jockeying for the role he is playing in, "Pirated" now playing at Rogers Memorial Theater in Centerville. It is a story about a movie "Mogul" filming "The Pirates of Penzance" with "silent" actors with no singing voices and requiring sound overs. It quickly descends to mayhem and David plays the Mogul who is the "epitome" of arrogance. An absolutely funny show and a "must" see. David has played a lot of roles over the years and always enjoys the roles that give his personality a chance to come through. We were on our mission in England when he played in "South Pacific", I don't like "Shenendoah" he got killed in that. And I do not like "West Side Story", he didn't get killed I just do not like the story. He played Joseph in "Joseph and Mary" a very touching Christmas story. He played Joseph in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and on and on. He is good at what he does and that is not just a proud Mom making that statement, he has a following. Many people go because David is playing. As a family we remember the day at Cherry Hill and he was on the pirate ship there and suddenly burst into song, "I am a Pirate King....." his family disappeared into the crowd. But his Mom (me) stayed and filmed the whole sequence. What a character, what a "David".
