.....I ate my very first one........
In 47 years of living the "American Dream" I am finally caught up :o).......
I went to BYU Women's Conference and since there is no time allowed for lunch and you catch as catch can, Lesley brought the fixins' for this American staple and I enjoyed. :o)
According to Lesley it has to be Dick's bread, according to David it has to be Skippy peanut butter, and as far as I am concerned if it is my home-made raspberry freezer jam, YOU ALWAYS WIN!!!!!

I agree about the Skippy.... probably true about Dick' bread (but since I don't shop there I don't get it).... and as far as the homemade freezer jam.....I WANT SOME!!!
You think you know a guy...and then you find out your granma has never had PB&J...
It sounds like your first experience was with the perfect combination of ingredients.
I don't have too many PB&J's but every once in awhile...it hits the spot.
That's hilarious!! I love Skippy, but prefer gma sycamore's bread w pb&j's :). I love your homemade jam--the two bottles you gave us last year didn't last very long! :)
you definitely had the Alan Jr approved kind of PB&J Mom. Way to go!
I made Mom a pb&j sandwich and put it in a little sandwich bag, then I gave her a little baggie with Lay's chips and told her to put it in her bag and eat it for lunch. Imagine my surprise (shock really) when we met up later and she told me how much she enjoyed her first pb&j sandwich. I repeated the entire process for her the next day.
I used to make triple-decker PB&Js when I was a kid. It also used to be a bit of a competition with me and my brothers to see who can get the first dig in the jar of Skippy. I must have OD'd back then because I haven't had a PB&J in about 35 years.
We always carve a heart in our pb the minute it is opened. The goal is to see how many days we can scoop out pb before the heart collapses.
I'm with Lesley-it has to be Dicks bread for a PB&J. And with you-my homemade freezer jam is my favorite addition! Don't care so much about the brand of PB though. I can't believe it was your first...Congrats!
