In about 4 hours they had me up on my feet with the aid of a walker. I had to get physical therapy. Alan of course went with me for moral support for me and hopefully a learning curve for him. (to help me at home). Well, needless to say Alan was in great form. There were some others there who had had knee surgeries and with long broad elastic "reins" were attempting to lift their legs. Of course Alan starts singing, "oh, the Deadwood stage is a'coming on over the hill". It wasn't all fun and games but they did take care of me. Alan was able to stay at nights and it was a comfort to me to see him when I opened my eyes.
Coming home was quite traumatic as the car seat was a long way down. But we made it and I was able to tackle the stairs. I have never used crutches before but they were surprisingly easy to maneuver. And now I am beginning to go on one crutch.

For a few days I felt like I was on a roller coaster as I dealt with reactions to various drugs and taking pills on an empty stomach.
I have had a Physical Therapist visit me at home three times a week to teach me and encourage me in doing exercises. I have also had a home nurse visit twice a week with 24 hour on call service.
On Wednesday I have a follow-up visit scheduled with the surgeon.
Some neighbors brought meals and others came to encourage. Cory took G'pa to a car show while Lilian "tended" G'ma. Jeffrey and Melissa brought me a Jamba Juice :o)
What a great job Alan has done/is doing in taking care of me. He would have done it for me if possible and we have shed a few tears together as I hurt and he hurt for me. But we have also laughed a lot too.
I am grateful for Heavenly Father who has put into the hearts and minds of men to develop these procedures and other procedures to help us here on the earth.

Saturday night we all went to Lilian and Cory's to celebrate Alan's birthday and what a great way to celebrate my "coming out" of the house.

I've missed your blog posts Trixie!
I'm glad you're on the mend. We've been thinking about you :)
Great job, Mom! And great job, Dad! I don't know what it's like to have hip replacement surgery but I have a feeling from reading this post it's not very fun even though you are dealing with it with humor and a positive attitude(and Dad is too but he can't help the humor part--ha-ha!). I'm just glad you are okay because now the world is okay. The morning you had surgery I complained to Alan when I woke up that I had bad hip pain. I think it was sympathetic pain, but regardless I knew my world was just a little off. Then we heard you were okay, and I finally got to talk to you, and the world was okay again. Let's keep it that way for a long, long while, okay? You just keep with your phys therapy and get better. Luv ya! Mwwwaaaa!
YAY mom!!! As I've watched your progress I am very impressed. At this rate you WILL be dancing at the Moonlight Serenade! ;-)
Dad is great too. I see his patience and love and support.
Thanks for being wonderful examples to me!! Love you!
I'm so glad that you are doing better. You looked great on Saturday night. You had good coloring and a smile on your face. That was good to see.
Let us know what the Dr. has to say too. I'm so glad we are at this point in the process of healing. It's all down hill from here...right? Take care! We love you!
Happy to see you doing well Mum. I'm sure this whole adventure has given you and dad a different perspective on "uplifting experiences".
Love from the West Jordan Marsdens
Hoorah for Bea!!!! Glad you are on the mend. We'll be back at the Temple on Tues nights again next week -- hope we'll see you there soon. Our Love!!!
Hey, that last "crazy" post was from me. My G'dau had been signed in on my computer and I didn't realize it. Anyway, Tanessa belongs to me!! I hope this one comes out right.
So happy you are doing so well, it is always better when the Mom is feeling good :-) You and Dad are AMAZING examples to ALL of your posterity and anyone who knows you. I'm so glad that you both belong to me. Love you.
You and Alan are my most favorite couple in the world. When Dan and me grow up we want to be just like you. Glad to hear you are doing well.
