Today is the first day of school in Davis County and quite a few of my Grandkids are going back to school. We have four going to College, five going to High School, three in Junior High, two in Fourth Grade, one in Kindergarten, two in Pre-school. And others who have passed their goal, and two who are still a year or two or three away from the school system. One getting married, and one on a mission, and one preparing for a mission. There is always a lot of coming and going in our family.

I think of when my bairns were in school. I was always so excited for the last day of school and the promise of summer. Then I always looked forward to the first day of school.
I always get a little melancholy in September because the time is flying by and everyone is getting older. :o( But!!! .... then there is always things to look forward to. Band performances and school plays and programs.

I remember when I was in school, this
is a picture of me in my school uniform. You could always tell which school a student attended because of the colours of the tunic and the tie. This is the uniform I wore when I attended Orangefield Primary School in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I was twelve when this picture was taken. I must confess I don't remember exactly the order. I know the tunic was green I think the tie orange and the sash green. My hair was long and my Mother always braided it. Just a bit of trivia. A few years earlier my Mother and my youngest brother went to the country for a few days and my Daddy had to braid my hair. :o) Not as neat and concise as my Mom's but him and I were sure proud of the finished product. :o)

I'm sitting here at 7:20 in the morning. My Junior in high school just left. My fourth grader is still sound asleep in his bed. Guess what my 7th grader is doing? He just finished throwing up and announced that he doesn't feel sick anymore - and is brushing his teeth. He's leaving for the bus in 10 minutes. Even though he is smiling and cheerful, it's obvious that his nerves at starting jr. high have gotten to him. Poor wee lad.
I am curious? Who is starting Kindergarten?
By the way I'm smiling! :-)
I just reread my blog and Adam is actually in 1st Grade NOT Kindergarten. Sorry Adam :o)
I am also thinking of the Mother who called her son on the first day of school to get out of bed, he did not want to do that. His Mother coaxed and cajoled and threatened. "You have to go to school all the kids are going to school" He pulled the bedclothes over his head and refused to get out of bed. Not to be undone the Mother pulled back the blankets and said, "you are the principal, you have to go to school" :o)
I liked that post. Near the end I too was confused about the kindegartener and all the pre-schoolers, then I realized you were including great-grandchildren. And yes, Adam is in first grade. Where does the time fly? I haven't seen or heard from Rosie, hopefully it's been a good day.
Today was Tara's first day as a college girl. She was very nervous, Granma. But I'm sure with that irepressible Marsden personality she'll be ruling the campus soon :-) Your school girl picture is very cute Mom. You look like a proper and well- behaved student. I don't think I've ever seen that before. I mean the picture, of course :-)

I'm counting more than four going to college...or in college.
We have Tara, Aubree, Alyssa, Sean & Melissa. Is that right? We can also add Adam (graduate school) and I was wondering is Jessica going this semester too? Any way it is getting to be a lot. Megan started her Junior year today. She had a great day and really seemed happy. I loved your school picture. What a precious picture. I also loved the other pictures too :) (cute children)
Yes, Jessica is going this semester too
"O it was the biggest mix up that you had ever seen. Me mother's tie was orange and her sash, it was green."
Old pictures are the best.
Alana used to have really long hair also. Sometime after she had cut it, I found a verse in 1 Corinthians 11:15 that I kid her with sometimes :-)
Ain't love grand?
auntie bea...what a great picture of you in your uniform...you were cute!
